Interesting landmark with alot of history. It's a good size and a beautiful walk through. There is a cost for the gardens, we didn't have the time to enjoy it, however from what I saw was quite quaint.
Underrated site of important historical significance. A lot of different attractions, including historical markers for the Lost Colony, the Lost Colony play, the Elizabethan Gardens, pleasant nature trails, and generally splendid scenery. Well worth the visit.
We stopped because my niece is studying The Lost Colony. Wow.....there was a really great movie and lots of information in the visitor center. We walked around the earthen fort and all the way down to the waterfront theater. We really want to get back to see a show. Unfortunately they were done for the season.we had a really great afternoon and learned so much.
Beautiful and historic. Kind of eerie but that's part of the charm. The visitor's center was super informative with tons of brochures, things to buy and small exhibits on the history of the area.
It is very educational and has the best movie about the history of the Lost Colony. Start by getting the Junior Ranger information to have your kids fill out while you go around the museum. Try to catch the ranger talk if you can. My granddaughter really enjoyed it and when she finished the pamphlet the ranger gave her a badge. We were ready to see the play The Lost Colony right next door when we were finished. The best thing is that it is free!!
